The Past Few Weeks...

...have been hectic to say the least!! Lots of weddings and shoots to show you guys from the past couple weeks and tons more coming up. Back in NJ, ready for the summer season!!! Time to give the blog some attention again :)

Below are a few of my favorite shots from the last couple weeks down under before the big move back across the earth. Over 24 hours it took this time around with an additional flight thrown in there, yikes! So without further adieu, here's a few new frames to keep you distracted from your work for a couple extra minues...

checking the morning misty bumps down at avalon real early

got to hop over the rocks to get to one of the southern breaks... can get a bit hairy!

on the run

good old dhl yellow slsc

taking a break from some early am laps

and there she is, good old ruthie. putting around everywhere in some serious style :)

checking out palm beach and pittwater from the headland... not too shabby eh???

definitely going to fly in that someday

the golf course... man i wish i played a round here!

the dock to the ferry that never came! we headed across the way to the Basin instead of Patonga, such a good spot

the boathouse was so good we went here twice to eat

classy double wine maddie haha

where mad used to work, pretty cool spot out on a pier in the harbour!

can't take her anywhere... even tries to eat the decorations :)

Bondi Light Bath

A couple weeks back, I was down at Bondi beach having a swim with Mads when this incredible light came out of nowhere. It took us by surprise, and pained us more than anything because it was probably the one and only time neither of us had a camera ... not even an iPhone in sight! Silly mistake. I never thought sunset on the east coast would backlight a beach so beautifully, but Bondi's layout is just perfect for not only sunrise but also sunset. No wonder it's so popular. So I waited for a clear afternoon a couple weeks ago and was able to sneak in a few frames while there was a little swell on before the sun hid behind the clouds.

really like this shot

a bit of salt haze on the horizon

and just as the sun went behind the clouds, lighting up the sloppy drop in

Chromatic Collaroy

This could hands down be the most colourful post of all time from me. I headed down to Collaroy early Sunday morning after being so stoked about the sunrise on Saturday at Avalon, running on about 3 hours sleep from Friday and Saturday... From the moment I got out of the house I knew it was going to be a good one. The hues the sky put out were unreal, and funny enough almost the same thing happened last time I went to Collaroy to shoot the sunrise. Out on long reef there is a huge flat rock formation which fills little rock pockets with still water... and reflections are one of my favorite things in photography. Combined with some ridiculous light, it was hard to stop drooling and focus on where I was stepping so I didn't lose a leg or get swept out to sea. After the sun started to creep behind the clouds and the vibrancy faded, a few rain drops paid us a visit. Sure enough I turned around to see a massive rainbow arched right behind us. It was a truly magical morning. What made it even more special, if you can believe it, is that I met a lady on the way back to the car who had just done the walk her father did every morning. He passed away not a week ago, and the show put on by mother nature that morning was truly something meaningful to her. Hope you like these images Kelly! Here's a few of my favorites, in order of occurence, so you can all see how insane it really was...

the start of the colour show.

lone fisherman, he didn't catch anything but i'm sure he was smiling anyway

some ascidians basking in the morning light

then the purple went away and transitioned into a brilliant orange

and as soon as that faded i turned around to this lovely rainbow... you can almost make out the double.

the lone fisherman, i've got like 20 photos of this guy haha

really loved this shot. no crazy colour but the photo moves!

and a beautiful disaster. taking a long exposure and was about to get smashed by a wave... sometimes it works out!

Avalon Light Factory

This past weekend I managed to get all the way up to Avalon for a sunrise session on Saturday morning... man was it worth it. Not only am I slightly obsessed with the town, but it produces consistently awesome results for me every time I go. The swell wasn't quite there, and there were no dramatic clouds for a crazy colourful sunrise. There was, however, quality light on tap everywhere you looked... and loads of it. My friend Dan, who met up with me for a sunrise shoot, was visiting his mom who lives on a boat in Avalon. What a sweet spot to live. Saturday morning's sunrise got me so stoked I woke up for another on Sunday, and got some even more awesome results... stay tuned for those ones! But for now, check out a few of my favorites from Saturday morning...

some pre dawn ripples in the pool

early morning keeners seeing if dan fell in the water yet

loving the droplets

the rock's hair getting bathed in some morning light

early morning dog walk

gonna be waiting a while...

and a little wonky wave for this happy longboarder
