Australia definitely celebrates Christmas a lot different than I'm used to back in the States. First of all, it's a beach day! People swimming in Santa suits, beers on the beach, and Santa decorations showing Santa in a pair of boardies getting barreled on his longboard is a common thing. Something drastically different is the lack of lights and flashy things outside every house. They've got a few, but nothing like the megawats of power and hundreds of dollars of flashing lights and blowup figures I'm used to see people flaunting. It doesn't feel like Christmas!
